2017 Audi RS3 Sportback facelift will be unveiled at Geneva

The German automaker Audi had unveiled the RS3 Sedan back in September last year, and they did that on Paris Motor Show if you recall. But that is not the interesting thing there. What actually is amazing, is the fact that Audi managed to draw out 400 HP from the world’s most powerful five-cylinder engine.

What is even more interesting than that is the fact that the Germans are restoring the balance back with the RS3 Sportback which is receiving the same engine as the Sedan version. That new powerplant is offering the super hatch 33 HP more power and 11 lb-ft more torque than its predecessor had, but that is not all, the 2017 Audi RS3 Sportback facelift has 57.3 pounds less than the model it replaces, and that is only thanks to the lighter new 2.5-liter unit.

2017 Audi RS3 Sportback Engine

With such powerful engine that offers 400 HP and 354 lb-ft of torque on the push of the pedal, this über hatch is capable of jumping from standstill to 62 MPH in just 4.1 seconds before it hits the electronically limited top speed of 155 MPH. But for the thrill seekers, and those that simply want to go faster the top speed can be increased by an optional kit that will move the limit to 174 MPH.

What will not surprise you, especially when it is about RS-badged Audi models, is the fact that it will be available exclusively with the Quattro AWD system. The transmission is a seven-speed, dual clutch gearbox that utilizes an electro-hydraulic multi-plate clutch that is in charge of distributing the torque between the two axles.

Suspension

2017 Audi RS3 Sportback is sitting somewhat lower (one inch) than the regular A3 and has around 20 mm wider front track. Stopping power of this super hatch can be found in its very beefy 310 mm brake discs which are more than enough, but if you would like something more you can opt for the carbon ceramic discs at the front axle for even more stopping power. The Sportback will be sold with the 19-inch alloys that will be wrapped in 235/35 sporty tires. Another option you can go for is the Audi Matrix LED headlights as well as the all-digital instrument cluster (Audi Virtual Cockpit).

The design of the vehicle is pretty much the same and nothing is changed, meaning it still is very true to the design of the RS3 Sedan. As the title hinted, you will be able to catch the premier of the 2017 Audi RS3 Sportback in lest than a month in Geneva, while the sales start sometime in April all across Europe.

Audi RS3 Sportback 2017 Price

As for the pricing, the RS3 Sportback will cost €54,600 and those who prefer the RS3 Sedan will have to say goodbye to €55,900 in Germany.
