Rolls-Royce finally brought its autonomous car concept titled 103EX to Santa Monica, California for its North American debut. The 103EX concept is a part of company’s Vision Next 100 concept series created in honor of its parent company BMW’s centenary. This vehicle is RR’s vision of the future, and it is envisioned as an autonomous pod for the ultra-rich, and the inspiration for it was drawn from brand’s historic coach-built models of the past.

Giles Taylor, Rolls Royce’s Director of Design, stated that “With the Rolls-Royce VISION NEXT 100 we were mindful not to dwell on the past,” and added, “We wanted to be as innovative as possible and at the same time transcend the design history of the marque.” The car has its own voice and its the “Voice of Eleanor” which is owners personal virtual assistant and chauffeur. It is conceited to be included in every aspect of owners life and his environment driving him and his passengers safely around while predicting beforehand every situation and possible scenario.

The name “Grand Sanctuary” is indeed well suiting for the cabin of this futuristic concept, which is by the way, as you would expect from Rolls-Royce, hand built from the finest and special materials. It offers soothing and simple, yet so elegant atmosphere inside that makes you forget about daily problems at least while driving from point A to point B. This perfect cocoon is designed in a way that it can offer its occupants trip full of enjoyment and relaxation.

RR made sure that the top of the car or the canopy opens high enough that it can provide safety as well as elegance even when the passengers stand upright. When you are due to disembark from the vehicle, but the red carpet isn’t ready, no worries the 103EX concept has got your back, underneath the door is a beam that provides a red light that gives the effect of a red carpet. Rolls-Royce calls it the “Grand Arrival.” How thoughtful, right? No one should leave its vehicle without a red carpet.

Taylor said that “The Grand Arrival gesture of the Rolls-Royce VISION NEXT 100 creates a stage for our important passengers as they arrive at their ultimate destination” and continued “It is an expression of our intrinsic understanding of the possibilities for a true luxury brand and the desires of its customers.” To pack all of this straight to the future, Rolls-Royce made sure that the zero emission powertrain is the only option for the vehicle of this caliber because they probably know that the V12 engine isn’t going to make it that far.

My name is Miloš Kalajdžić and I come from Brčko DC in Bosnia. I was born on July 20 th 1988 and so far I obtained a BSc in economics and one year of working experience in my field of study. I am a very hard-working person who leaves nothing unfinished and halfway done. When I commit to something I give my best to make sure that everything is done the way as it is supposed to be. I like cars and everything that comes with them. My passion are American muscle cars, but unfortunately the closest I managed to come near one is behind my laptop watching an image of the new Chevy or Dodge and writing about it. But that’s ok I’m still optimistic. When I’m not behind the laptop writing I’m on the streets and auto shows admiring all stuff rolling on four wheels being propelled by a petrol engine!
