The creation of new states is nothing unfamiliar. For instance, the island of Bougainville in the Pacific Ocean is officially a part of Papua New Guinea, but it might become an independent state by 2019. However, this will happen only if people vote for it in the referendum. Some of the other newly-formed countries could be Catalonia, currently a part of Spain and New Caledonia, which is still a French island.
